How to Download Fonts from the App Store

The easiest way to download fonts on your iPhone or iPad is to use an app that lets you browse, preview, and download fonts from various sources. There are several apps that offer this functionality, such as iFont, AnyFont, and Fonteer. These apps let you download fonts in TrueType (.ttf), OpenType (.otf), or ZIP (.zip) formats. They also let you install fonts using a configuration profile that you can easily manage in Settings.

Choose a font app

The first step is to choose a font app that suits your needs and preferences. Here are some examples of font apps that you can download from the App Store:

  • iFont: This is a free app with ads that you can remove for $0.99. It lets you download fonts from Google's font library, as well as other sources. It also lets you import fonts from Safari, iCloud Drive, or other apps.

  • AnyFont: This is a paid app that costs $1.99. It lets you download fonts from various websites and import them from other apps. It also lets you create custom font labels and preview fonts before installing them.

  • Fonteer: This is a free app that lets you install up to three fonts for free. If you want to install more fonts, you have to pay $1.99. It lets you download fonts from Font Squirrel and DaFont, as well as import them from other sources.

You can choose any of these apps or look for other alternatives on the App Store. Once you have chosen an app, download it and open it on your device.

Find and download fonts from the app

The next step is to find and download fonts from the app that you have chosen. Depending on the app, you may have different options for browsing and searching for fonts. For example, in iFont, you can tap the "Download" tab at the bottom of the app to view a list of fonts from Google's font library. You can also use the search bar at the top of the app to look for specific fonts by name or category. You can also tap the "More" tab to access other sources of fonts, such as Fonts.com, Fontspace, 1001 Free Fonts, and Urban Fonts.

How to Install Fonts on Your iPhone or iPad

After you have downloaded some fonts from the app, you need to install them on your device so that you can use them in your apps. To do this, you need to use a configuration profile that will add the fonts to your system. A configuration profile is a file that contains settings and preferences for your device. You can install and manage configuration profiles in Settings.

Open the font file in the app

The first step is to open the font file in the app that you have downloaded it from. For example, in iFont, you can tap the "Files" tab at the bottom of the app to see a list of fonts that you have downloaded. Tap on the font that you want to install and you will see a screen that says "Open in..." with a list of options. Tap on the option that says "Install on device" and you will see a pop-up message that says "This website is trying to open Settings to show you a configuration profile. Do you want to allow this?" Tap on "Allow" and you will be taken to Settings.

Install the font using a configuration profile

The next step is to install the font using a configuration profile that will appear in Settings. You will see a screen that says "Profile Downloaded" with a button that says "Install". Tap on "Install" and you will be asked to enter your passcode if you have one. Then, you will see another screen that says "Install Profile" with a warning message that says "Installing this profile will change settings on your iPhone". Tap on "Install" again and then tap on "Done". You have successfully installed the font on your device.

To manage your installed fonts, go to Settings > General > Fonts. You will see a list of fonts that you have installed using configuration profiles. You can tap on each font to see more details about it, such as its name, version, size, and source. You can also delete any font that you don't want by tapping on "Remove Profile" at the bottom of the screen.

How to Use Custom Fonts in Your Apps

Now that you have installed some custom fonts on your device, you can use them in your apps that support them. Not all apps support custom fonts, so you need to check if your app has this feature before you try to use them.

Check if your app supports custom fonts

The easiest way to check if your app supports custom fonts is to look for a font setting or option in your app. For example, in Word, PowerPoint, Pages, Excel, Numbers, and Keynote, you can tap on the "Aa" icon at the top of the app to access the font settings. If your app supports custom fonts, you will see a section called "Custom Fonts" or something similar in the font settings.

Here are some examples of apps that support custom fonts:

Word: This is a word processor app that lets you create and edit documents. You can use custom fonts in Word by tapping on the "Aa" icon at the top of the app and
